Russian Empire, turn of the 20th century. Thirteen-year-old noble orphan Vanya Ogaryov flees Moscow, hunted by assassins sent by his own uncle, eager to steal his inheritance. To survive, Vanya hires a rough-and-tumble bare-knuckle fighter known as Volchok to escort him to Nizhny Novgorod, where his late father’s loyal friend awaits. But their uneasy alliance is full of clashes – the dreamy young aristocrat and the gruff, ill-mannered brawler can barely stand each other. Ahead lies a perilous journey that will change them both forever.
